Dairy Queen Helps ‘Mr. and Mrs. Blizzard’ Plan the Sweetest Wedding in Texas

When Olivia Morris first heard her future husband’s last name, she assumed it was a joke.
“I’ve never heard that name other than Dairy Queen Blizzards, or a blizzard snowstorm,” she told PEOPLE. “I did not believe it at first.”
But the name was real. And so was their shared history with the brand. For Olivia, it was a nostalgic treat from childhood visits to the Illinois DQ with her dad. For Bradley Blizzard, it was the dessert of choice during family trips with his mom in Florida.
“So, needless to say, we’ve been fans of Dairy Queen forever,” Bradley said.
When Bradley proposed in 2023, the couple leaned into the obvious theme and thought it “would be really cool.”
“Her family members were making jokes about having Blizzards at the wedding,” Bradley added.
What started as a playful family idea soon snowballed into a full-scale brand collaboration, one that transformed a clever last name into the centerpiece of a wedding day partnership.
A TikTok Plea Goes Viral
In September, Olivia took her idea to TikTok with a direct appeal to the brand.
“I need them to see this video and sponsor a Dairy Queen Blizzard bar, because it just makes sense,” she said. “What a fun last name, so Dairy Queen, help a girl out, please.”
The video gained traction, and not long after, the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council responded with a teasing promise: “We have something in mind.”
What followed was a thoughtful and strategic collaboration. The couple was invited to a custom engagement shoot inside a DQ in Frisco, Texas. The brand also supplied merch for Olivia and Bradley’s bachelor and bachelorette parties, held in Scottsdale and Flagstaff, and gave them gift cards and branded items to celebrate the upcoming marriage.
One standout item: a custom “Mrs. Blizzard” denim jacket.
The Big Day, with a Big Surprise
When the couple tied the knot in Collinsville, Texas, on May 3, guests had a feeling that the brand might make an appearance. What they didn’t expect was how.
“Right as the party started getting going, we see the doors swing open and one of the local franchise owners was there holding a big, huge Blizzard Dairy Queen cooler that was personalized just for us, as well as Dairy Queen Blizzards for the bridal party and groom’s party,” Bradley recalled.
The moment was a hit.
“We could tell that they had a feeling that something Dairy Queen was going to happen just after the photo shoot, and some of the news media,” he said. “So I think a lot of our guests were expecting them to make some kind of appearance at the wedding. But they definitely didn’t expect, right in the middle of the party, all the goodies that were handed out.”
“It was just more than I could have even imagined,” Olivia added.
Brand Meets Authenticity
For the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council, the decision to support the couple was simple.
“From the moment we saw Olivia’s TikTok, we knew we had to say ‘I do’ to this sweet idea,” said Lou Romanus, CEO of the Council. “It’s not every day you meet a couple whose last name is Blizzard. We’re thrilled to help make their journey to the altar as joyful and memorable as possible.”
In a saturated marketing landscape, the partnership stands out for its sincerity. It wasn’t a calculated stunt. It was a naturally aligned story, one that tapped into nostalgia, personalization, and modern social media savvy.
The couple’s names and their real affection for the brand gave the collaboration authenticity. Dairy Queen’s support, in turn, gave the wedding a unique narrative arc and viral potential.
A Story That Stuck
From a TikTok wish to a headline-grabbing wedding, the story of Mr. and Mrs. Blizzard gained widespread attention. Not because of the novelty, but because of the heart behind it.
What began as a clever coincidence turned into a genuine connection between a couple and a brand they both grew up loving. It wasn’t a marketing gimmick. It was a personal story, amplified.
The Blizzards didn’t just serve soft-serve at their wedding. They built a moment that blended nostalgia, creativity, and joy, one that resonated far beyond the reception.
Because in the end, the most lasting part of the celebration wasn’t the ice cream. It was the story that made it truly unforgettable.
