How The Chicago Startup LV8 Health Is Making Preventive Care the New Standard

When Tim McEnery, CEO of Cooper’s Hawk Winery, stepped into LV8 Health, he wasn’t chasing a diagnosis, he was seeking clarity. What he found was a radically different kind of care model, one that asks not “What’s wrong?” but “How well can you live?”

LV8 Health, a fast-rising Chicago startup, is championing a bold shift in healthcare called Medicine 3.0, a personalized, prevention-first model aimed at optimizing both lifespan and healthspan. Co-founded by Dr. Anand Patel and Dr. Maulik Majmudar, the clinic is attracting attention from health-conscious professionals and longevity-focused entrepreneurs alike.

From Fixing Illness to Preventing It

“Medicine 1.0 is kind of the village doctor,” said Dr. Patel when the ABC7 interviewer asked him about the idea of medicine 3.0. “Medicine 2.0 is kind of where we are now… evidence-based health, lots of data, and population… which is great for fixing a broken bone or treating a disease. But the thing that we’re really missing out on is the prevention of those.”

That gap between treatment and prevention is exactly where LV8 Health positions itself.

“So 3.0, I think, is defined by preventative, proactive, personalized medicine,” he explained.

Redefining Health and Vitality

At LV8 Health, patients aren’t just patients, they are partners in optimizing both their lifespan and their healthspan. That distinction matters. As Dr. Patel puts it, the goal isn’t just to help people live longer, but to help them live better, longer.

“It’s not about extending lifespan as much as it is extending healthspan,” he said. “So at the 9th, 10th decade of life, you are gaming with your grandkids, you are doing everything that gives you meaning, and that’s really our goal.”

LV8 Health combines regenerative therapies, nutritional support, and advanced diagnostics to identify potential health risks far earlier than traditional care. That includes everything from body composition scans to full-body MRIs and AI-assisted heart disease detection.

“This tells you exactly if you have a disease or not,” said Dr. Patel. “There are lots of pros and cons, and I always say speak with a physician… but it could help uncover an additional layer that traditional medicine doesn’t always get to.”

For patients like Tim McEnery, CEO of Cooper’s Hawk Winery, the experience is transformational. As a patient of LV8 Health, McEnery shared that he feels better, more informed, and proactive about his long-term health.

A Daily Foundation, A High-Tech Edge

LV8 Health’s model is built around two pillars: foundational lifestyle habits and precision diagnostics.

“It’s kind of two ways of looking at it,” said Patel. “There are foundational daily habits, fitness, nutrition, sleep, and mental well-being. Then we have to integrate… advanced diagnostics.”

LV8 Health doesn’t just push fitness or diet; it tracks biomarkers, evaluates mental health, and continually updates patient dashboards using AI.

“Your health is not static, it’s so dynamic,” said Dr. Patel.

LV8 Health’s personalized dashboards and AI systems aren’t static either. They continue to evolve with new research and emerging treatments. The team is part of a global innovation group called N-DOC, where top minds collaborate on best practices and emerging strategies in longevity and disease prevention.

Breaking the Insurance Mold

For all its innovation, Medicine 3.0 is still facing resistance from insurance companies. Dr. Patel says it’s “like moving mountains” to get approvals for forward-thinking treatments.

“You’re not going to give you the medicine, you already have the disease. And I’m like, well, that’s a silly way to do this,” he said. Treatments like heart injections, which could prevent more serious conditions later, are often denied without a formal diagnosis.

“Unfortunately, it is a constant battle, and it is something, you know, it just goes to show you how backwards sometimes things are,” he added.

Despite the red tape, the clinic continues to grow. LV8 Health’s strategy appeals directly to a growing class of patients, executives, entrepreneurs, and health-conscious professionals, who are willing to invest in long-term wellness.

Building a New Model for Modern Medicine

Dr. Patel is vocal about the need for physicians to break away from the system’s reactive training and lean into what patients want: agency, insight, and quality of life.

“How do you want to be? How much do you want to invest in your health, and how much do you want to get out of this?” asked Patel. It’s a different conversation, less about symptoms, more about systems.

As this innovative Chicago startup continues to challenge the norms of traditional care, one thing is becoming clear: the future of medicine may not be about curing disease; it’s about never getting sick in the first place.
